Discover or a cool down? Or both? For example in the Reussdelta and on Lake Uri, the wildest part of Lake Lucerne. It’s “absolutely breathtaking”, says a user from Kentucky. “I really want to go there”, writes a British woman on a video clip in the social media. Hyped all over the world, mythical the glory from the history of the Confederation, amazing the nature, fascinating the pleasurable variety for activities in the smallest space. Between Seelisberg and the Axenstrasse, the Lake of Uri smiles and invites you for a swim in Sisikon, Flüelen, Seedorf, at Isleten and in Bauen. Or its waves whip and make you want to surf and sail. Next to Lake Silvaplana, we probably have the most windy days here. The most popular wind is the Föhn. The landscape is reminiscent of Norwegian fjords. This extremely historic Lake of Uri in the middle of primeval Switzerland offers an everchanging natural spectacle and lasting memories. Thanks to the mild climate, palms, figs, sweet chestnuts and other Mediterranean plants thrive on the shores. The Rütli lies on the west bank, where the Swiss Path begins. Near it, the Schiller Stone rises out of the water. On the eastern shore, the Tellsplatte and Tell’s Chapel are impressive. In the south of the Lake of Uri, the Reussdelta, which is a nature reserve and recreation area in equal measure, will relax you. When it gets warm and hot, the Lorelei Islands with their Caribbean charm attract. The islands were filled with excavated material from the Gotthard Base Tunnel and the N4 bypass tunnel in Flüelen. The new bathing and nature protection islands as well as the shallow water zones have contributed significantly to increasing biodiversity in this area. If you have forgotten your bath towel, you will discover nature in a different way. Flora and fauna are exceptional in this natural and cultural landscape with shallow water zones and water reed beds, with 500 plant, 40 bird, 30 fish and four amphibian species. In order to increase biodiversity in the Reussdelta in Uri, the canton of Uri intends to carry out further lake fills between 2023 and 2027. Inland, with a view to the Bristenstock, there are extensive reed meadows and more intensive grassland management with old streams, ponds and a small, original alluvial landscape. For a change, a viewing platform designed by Graubünden architect Gion A. Caminada rises up on the “left” of the Reuss, which the locals call Mississippi. A special feature are the four cardinal points from which one can enter the tower and step out onto four pulpits at the top. Those who stand there enjoy a unique view of the lake and the mountains and feel like a bird in a nest in the woven baskets. Just cosy and happy in the Reussdelta and on the Lake of Uri – on water or on land. 24 Titelstory URNERLAND
